Sure, MTV gave out a few awards at the VMAs this year, but blink and you may have missed them.
Instead, they gave plenty of air time to Rihanna and Beyoncé, because that's what you do when flawless divas agree to grace your stage, and they killed. Some of the high-concept performances (hey Nick Jonas) got lost in translation, though.
Here's what worked and what didn't:
7. Nick Jonas, "Bacon"
The Jonas brothers really, really wanted the VMAs to be their night this year. Joe's band's DNCE aggressively (but successfully) campaigned to win the Best New Artist award, and Nick was super bummed that he didn't get any nods. Read more...
