Drake's attempt to kiss Rihanna at the VMAs didn't work work work work work

It was the night of the 2016 VMAs, and to Drake, that could only mean one thing — time to worship Rihanna, just like every other night.

He stayed hidden all night — despite winning an award for "Hotline Bling," the biggest video of his career — until it was time to present Rihanna with the Video Vanguard award. 

"She is someone I have been in love with since I was 22 years old," confessed Drake, tears is his eyes. Dude, we know. 

It was all going very well, and then he went in for the kiss.
