Even if you obsessed about boy bands when you were a kid, you probably didn't know much about the man who orchestrated them.
Lou Pearlman, the mastermind behind bands like *NSYNC, The Backstreet Boys and O-Town, died on Friday, August 19, at age 62, while serving a 25-year prison sentence for running a multi-million dollar Ponzi scheme. The cause of his death has not been disclosed.
Pearlman was convicted of fraud in 2008. According to Rolling Stone, Pearlman had stolen over $300 million from investors in his scheme.
While Pearlman's legacy ended with a scandal, his career also brought happiness to thousands, if not millions, of teens in the late '90s and early 2000s, while also launching the careers of several famous musicians. Read more...
