With Saturday Night Live losing power players and bringing on new writers into 30 Rock, Lorne Michaels' comedy creation was bound to welcome some new blood. NBC confirmed on Monday that SNL's upcoming 42nd season will be the first for new cast members Mikey Day, Alex Moffat and Melissa Villaseñor.
Moffat, according to NBC's release, was a regular improviser at iO Chicago and the Annoyance Theatre in Los Angeles. Villaseñor comes from a background of standup comedy, having toured over 100 venues across the country with monologues and impressions. Day makes his debut as a featured cast member, after three years on the writing staff and recently writing and acting in the NBC variety show Maya & Marty. Before that, he performed in Los Angeles with Groundlings, the troupe that gave rise to SNL greats like Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig and Will Farrell. Read more...
